Visit with Friends

This weekend we had the chance to see our friends Craig and Janine Hooper. They used to live here in Southern California and left for the serenity of San Luis Obispo. They got to meet Audrey for the first time and we were amazed at how much Craig and Audrey looked alike (but Audrey has more hair.) It was really great to spend time with them again.

This Morning's Walk

Audrey and I were joined by Peyton on our morning walk. Usually Peyton will just follow us (like a dog) as we walk laps around the farm. Today, she decided to take a ride.

The Many Faces of Audrey Grace

Farewell Rupert!

So, last week we introduce you to Rupert and this week we must say goodbye. We want to remain optimistic that Rupert found a new home that would better accommodate him, but there is the possibility that he met Peyton or the birds of prey on the farm. Rupert we bid you farewell (not goodbye). You are welcome back to our window anytime.

Audrey's First (and Last) Dodger Game

Today we went to a Dodgers Game. Biola bought a thousand tickets to celebrate our centennial year. To commemorate the occasion, the new president threw out the first pitch. We sat in the right field pavillion which at Dodger Statium means all you can eat Dodger Dogs, nachos, popcorn, and peanuts. However, it also means that you will be sitting in the blazing sun and that Dodger's security will be working twice as hard around you. Between the fight and the fan that ran out on the field, it made us appreciate being Angels fans (plus I prefer red to blue). Thus, Audrey will no longer be visiting Chavez ravine.

Rupert the Mouse

Eric and I are known for "adopting" homeless animals at the farm. It would be more accurate to say the animals adopt us. Our newest addition we found after returning from San Francisco. We noticed a little mouse outside the window above our swampcooler. He decided to make a home in between the window and the planter. He is a very cute mouse, especially when he cleans himself. Eric named him Rupert. I thought it would be a great idea to give him a slice of cheese left over from making quiche. The ants enjoyed it at least as much, if not more than he did. So Rupert will have to fend for himself from now on. He ventures outside his new home every night and every morning we find ourselves looking to see if he has returned safely. Thus far Rupert had evaded the hawk and owl that live in the trees above our house. The best kind of pet is the kind that is self sufficient, which Rupert has proven to be.

Audrey's First Road Trip

We took our first road trip this past weekend. My friend Lidia went with us to visit my sister, Rahime and her husband 'Chung in San Francisco. Audrey did great in the car. She slept the whole way; we only had to stop once to feed her at the half way point. Traveling at this age is fairly easy, but she does not pack light. Audrey took up a whole suitcase for herself. Here are some pictures and a recap of our trip:

Thursday-
After driving all morning, we spent the early evening at Muir Woods, a place Lidia recommended. We took a 2 1/2 mile hike enjoying the giant Redwoods, ferns and we even saw some deer.

Friday Afternoon-
We went to a historic home and garden called Filoli, my favorite place to take pictures of flowers and pumpkins.

Friday Night-
We spent some time with Eric's Step-sister, Susan. We ate our favorite pizza from Zachary's and played our new favorite game, Cash Flow.

Saturday Evening-
Eric, Lidia and I went to our friend Amy's wedding (the real reason for the road trip.) Amy, Lidia and I went to nursing school together. It was great to hang out with some of our classmates. Auntie Rahime and Uncle 'Chung were kind enough to babysit Audrey.

Sunday:
Driving home, we stopped to eat at Red Robin and had some fun with Audrey.
