Labor Day Weekend on Grandview Island

After picking up the kids from school on Friday of Labor Day weekend, we headed to the airport to pick up Eric from his week in NC.  We then drove to Hampton, VA for a relaxing and gorgeous long weekend on Grandview Island with my Uncle Scott and Aunt Laura.  They so graciously hosted us and loved on our kids.  It couldn't have been a better vacation.

We spent most of our days on the beach.
Laura's daughter Meahgan and boyfriend Jonny came down from NY for the weekend as well.  They were also amazing with the kids.

Luckily we had enough buckets

The islanders have a tradition of racing sunfish sailboats every holiday weekend (and many other times during the year).

Here's my Uncle Scott and his Sunfish

Adeline preferred the beach cart over the sand.

Day 2 on the beach, there was more floating than racing going on.

Adeline couldn't wake up from this beach coma.

Rest time for everyone

The kids got to climb up to the lighthouse that one of my uncle's friends built.

Labor Day Monday was our final day. We spent a relaxing morning at the house followed by a
blissful walk on the beach.

On the way home we passed by my grandparents old house just for fun.

Picking nose, playing with gum... that was about right for the drive home.

Audrey wasn't ready to be done with our beach weekend so she jumped back in her swimsuit for some imaginary beach play.
