10 Year Anniversary Trip

One of the highlights of the summer, well actually the last five years, was a weekend away to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary.  Cedulie and Luis graciously cared for our three kids, so that we could enjoy three care-free days.  Luis even sacrificed his birthday weekend to make this happen.

Paris wasn't feasible for us this year, so we took our getaway to the Shenandoah Valley, since "Virginia is for Lovers" after all.

First stop, after dropping off our three precious ones, was to Oatlands, a historic house and gardens.  It our kind of place.

We enjoyed a fabulous and very quiet (without kids) tour of the mansion by a very knowledgable history lover followed by a self tour of the gardens, where my iphone camera served me well.

Next stop was to our little bed and breakfast cottage.

It was a perfect home away from home!

The outside reminded me of our first home on Paddison Farm.

The other wonderful thing was to have breakfast promptly delivered to our door.
We have a new standard for bed and breakfasts now.

We went the Grand Caverns, and yes they were grand.

We also had a free vine tasting at Bluestone Vineyard.

Before return home on Sunday, we explored the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum at James Maddison University .

The Gardens were beautiful

We took a walk in the woods- the home of the tick that we removed from my body a day and a half later.

This is the only picture that we have of the two of us together during this trip- reminds me of our honeymoon in that way and maybe a few others.
